Within your pocket lies the ability to make a difference in children’s lives. Every day, 21,000 children die of preventable causes, but your unused currency could help UNICEF provide a child with the medicine, nutrition or clean water he or she needs to survive. Through UNICEF's Change for Good program on American Airlines, customers are taking action to help reduce the number of preventable childhood deaths to zero. UNICEF has saved more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization in the world. Today, thanks to generous donations, more than 11,000 additional lives are saved each day than was possible in 1990.
Since 1994, American Airlines has been the participating U.S. airline in UNICEF’s global Change for Good program. Over the past 17 years, American Airlines flight attendants and Admirals Club employees known as “Champions for Children” have collected more than $7.5 million in unused currency and donations from customers to support UNICEF programs for children worldwide. Together with participating oneworld® and other airlines, more than $103 million has been raised through UNICEF’s global Change for Good program since the program began in 1987.
Getting involved is simple, and no donation is too small. On your next international flight with American Airlines, just ask your flight attendant if a Champion for Children employee volunteer is on board, or simply mention UNICEF donations. Champions for Children collect donations during international flights with a clearly marked UNICEF collection pouch. The donation of your unused currency will go a long way toward strengthening UNICEF's mission to provide children with health care, clean water, nutrition, education and emergency relief in developing countries around the world.
Members or visitors at American Airlines Admirals Club lounges and Flagship Lounge® locations worldwide can also make donations via specially marked UNICEF Change for Good donation boxes. For Admirals Club airport locations and hours of operation, please visit

Change for Good on American Airlines is proudly supported by Airline Ambassadors International, the humanitarian organization that leads the effort to recruit employees who serve as Champions for Children volunteers. The program is also supported by the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA). Change for Good on American Airlines could not exist without the outstanding support of customers and Champions for Children volunteers.
